Speeding

You are here: mooreblatch.com > Individuals > Motoring Offences > Speeding

More likely than not, if you are summonsed for any motoring offence, it will be speeding. The increase in speed cameras and similar devices means that many more drivers now find themselves facing disqualification.

Speeding offences carry a minimum licence endorsement of 3 penalty points. Many are dealt with by fixed penalty notices (3 penalty points plus a fine of £60) but more serious offences will carry 6 points and a larger fine. Serious offences, for instance where the speed limit is exceeded by 30 mph, can result in immediate disqualification. Extreme offences can lead to a charge of dangerous driving, which carries a prison sentence.

However, there are various procedures that must be followed before a person can be convicted of speeding. If you have been summonsed for an offence, make sure you seek advice from lawyers who specialise in motoring offences. Moore Blatch have an excellent success rate in defending such prosecutions. We will give free initial advice and are happy to assist on a fixed fee basis.
