Moore Blatch sprints to complete Bournemouth leisure deal
The purchase of a multi-million pound leisure centre in Dorset was anything but leisurely for south coast law firm Moore Blatch which masterminded the deal in just days.
The ROKO Health Club in Bournemouth was bought by Bournemouth Borough Council and has reopened as Pelhams Park Leisure Centre – a deal which involved Moore Blatch specialists in company commercial, employment and property departments.
Moore Blatch partner Peter Jeffery said the teams at Moore Blatch provided a comprehensive service for the council to quickly complete the £3.75 million pound deal against particularly tough deadlines.
“Our expertise in different areas of law meant that we could swiftly handle all areas of the deal which involved the purchase of the land and the business together with the transfer of employees,’’ said Mr Jeffery.
“We had to work with a number of different companies and organisations to ensure that everything was in place for the deal to be completed.’’
“We were really impressed by the Council’s pragmatism, and commercial approach. Collectively we had to work hard at speed to get the deal done. And following some fast and complex negotiations a good deal was done”
Peter Brown, Leisure Facilities Manager at Bournemouth Borough Council paid tribute to the excellent team work at Moore Blatch. “The whole team was excellent helping us through the whole process and providing a highly professional and flexible service every step of the way.’’
He said Bournemouth Borough Council had been working towards a new North Bournemouth leisure facility to replace the ageing Kinson Swimming Pool for many years and the opening of Pelhams Park Leisure Centre successfully completes that process.
